It's great, seriously. Pretty.
8/27/07 to 8/29/07
San Francisco with my family.
We watched "Jersey Boys" at the Curran Theater and it was great. It was all great. Hee hee. But when they first made that sound..._their_ sound...that was the best. I watched it too much. Anyway. It was great. We had to rush because we got there a little late, but were still seated in ROW H of ORCHESTRA! WHOA! There was an older couple behind us and I heard them commenting like "What kind of parent would take their young kids to see this show?" because "Jersey Boys" has swearing, violence, and things of a sexual nature in it. But we come for the music and my mom told them that me, my little sister, and her have seen it twice before. SO TAKE THAT, PEOPLE. Anyway. It was so cool sitting up so close right in the center. I got to see them sweat. I got to see the spit fly. I got to be right there when they went to the front of the stage. In fact it was a little intimidating. I looked over at my aunt at different periods of the show and she had her mouth in a smile the whole time. The audience was good. Jake Speck was on for Rashad Naylor, but that was OK. His voice was a little weak, but the end wailing was really great. And Jarrod Spector...his singing was better than Chris Jones, but Chris Jones NAILED the acting. When Chris Jones yelled at his daughter and she hung up, I thought, "Yeah, I would hang up too because he was acting so irrationally" but Jarrod Spector played it a bit more mellow so it didn't have as much effect.
Jeremy Kushnier was great, but I think that Deven May will always be Tommy DeVito to me. It was cute when they were doing "pulling my body under" in the last reprise of "Oh What a Night" and they are supposed to hop, but he was too busy enjoying the audience that he forgot and only when he looked over at the others did he remember and hop the last few times. Drew Gehling was good as Bob Gaudio although he cracked at the last "Cryyyyy for me." Both he and Erich Bergen look better in their headshots though XD and I really enjoyed Steve Gouveia's Nick Massi more than Michael Ingersoll because he put a more neurotic spin on it so that when Michael Ingersoll was called out for things he does weird, it wasn't quite believable.
The woman who was the lead in "Boyfriend's Back" reminded me of Ana Gasteyer of Saturday Night Live that it got distracting XD Also, I really liked when the one lady did the part during the recording session because when Frankie does the runs, she looks at him all jealous, like "GTFO this is my song, buster!" And she does this really funny voice modulation, where she's like "How could you, how could-a you, say (man voice) good bye-eye..." She was really funny.
Also, one of the screens was busted the whole time. The left one was black, and then red when they tried to fix it. So during the American Bandstand part, only two of the screens showed them (WHICH WAS SO DISAPPOINTING!!!), and during the various changing of the seasons and the cartoons that accompanied some of the songs (like "Big Girls Don't Cry"), there was always a panel missing so it didn't make all that much sense. Boooo! Don't they usually do a check before the show? Oh well, I had seen them before so I didn't mind all that much, but I felt bad for the people who hadn't seen it and were probably like, "What the--how unprofessional and low-rent!" No they probably didn't go that far because it's just that awesome but still.
Then we went to buy some merchandise. And then we went to the stage door. My little sister got the signatures of three of the Four Seasons (I don't know where Jarrod was, but no big loss), Bob Crewe (he was so nice. He asked her "What's your name?" And then he said "My name is Craig. Nice to meet you." and then he shook her hand. SO NICE!) and then we got a picture with all of them. Then we got Jake Spector's autograph and he also asked my little sister's name and then he wrote a personalized autograph. I still kick myself over not getting a picture with him because he was so nice! A lot of girls also left the stage door but I didn't know what they really looked like, so oh well.
Then we hung around while we waited for my dad to pick us up and Jeremy Kushnier was still there along with Craig Laurie (Bob Crewe), Michael Ingersoll, and Jake Spector while they were just hanging out waiting for their ride. It was kind of awkward, I don't know why. There wasn't a lot of people outside the stage door but then again, we had been in the theatre (where my mom got yelled at for taking a flash picture, but actually I had done it because I forgot the flash was on...sorry Mom!) until we were the last ones to leave, so maybe the rush was over? Oh, and there was this weird woman who looked like a man in really high heels who gave Michael Ingersoll a collection of pictures of her friends holding up signs that say they love him. He said "Oh thanks. This is really great" and all that stuff, but I was like, "Ew creepy." Hehehehe. She's met them before, though, so eh.
Anyway, OH WHAT A NIGHT!
